Outside Edge offers specialised training programs designed to empower those working in addiction treatment, recovery, mental health and beyond. We also create interactive theatre productions that can be used as training for multi-agency professionals focused on issues such as safeguarding children, domestic violence and dual diagnosis. From creative wellbeing sessions to bespoke workshops, our training provides tools that foster connection, growth and healing through the power of the arts.

“For those in the know in the world of addiction treatment Outside Edge are a familiar and welcome benchmark of excellence, a best kept secret. But their work deserves and demands a wider audience. They were the first and they are the best.” —Nick Mercer, Addiction Treatment Consultant

Our Five Ways to Wellbeing sessions combine creativity with practical tools to enhance mental and emotional wellbeing. Five 1-hour long drama and creative writing sessions use fun exercises that target improvements in the Five Ways to Wellbeing (connect, take notice, keep learning, be active, give) and demonstrate to participants how arts activities can help to improve wellbeing. Each session focuses on a different Way to Wellbeing.

Tailored for those in recovery, these sessions focus on building resilience, fostering connection, and promoting self-expression through drama and the arts. All skills learnt in the session are transferable skills such as speaking with confidence, improvisation and creative problem solving and improving wellbeing.

The best way to learn is to jump in and learn by doing! Our Perform and Explore interactive productions teach audience members about a specific topic by putting them in the middle of the action, allowing them to explore, analyse and transform the reality in which they are living. They can stop the play, replay scenes to test alternative endings and change the outcome of what they are seeing.
