Whether big or small, local or national, partnerships with like-minded organisations and artists are essential to our work. Join us in helping people affected by addiction reclaim centre stage in their lives or bring the beneficial work of OETC to your organisation.

By partnering with Outside Edge, you’re supporting our charitable work and providing employment and volunteering opportunities for people with lived experience of addiction. Our workshop model, led by individuals in recovery, helps strengthen community ties, boost confidence and wellbeing and inspire transformation. Together, we can make a lasting impact.

Interested in seeing how our creative activities can improve wellbeing? Outside Edge will come to your service to deliver a free, hour-long Drama, Dance or Creative Writing Taster Session for your clients.

Our Taster Sessions are based around the Five Ways to Wellbeing, using fun, fast-paced exercises to give participants an embodied experience of the benefits of a creative activity.

Our Five Ways to Wellbeing sessions combine creativity with practical tools to enhance mental and emotional wellbeing. Five 1-hour long drama and creative writing sessions use fun exercises that target improvements in the Five Ways to Wellbeing (connect, take notice, keep learning, be active, give) and demonstrate to participants how arts activities can help to improve wellbeing. Each session focuses on a different Way to Wellbeing.

Tailored for those in recovery, these sessions focus on building resilience, fostering connection, and promoting self-expression through drama and the arts. All skills learnt in the session are transferable skills such as speaking with confidence, improvisation and creative problem solving and improving wellbeing.

We offer flexible packages of regular creative workshops in drama, dance and creative writing to support your clients’ ongoing recovery. Workshop sessions can be delivered onsite in your organisation and are designed to build confidence, self-expression and resilience in a supportive, creative environment.

Our unique creative activities help participants  to build confidence, reduce loneliness and develop commitment. All skills practised in the workshop are transferable skills such as speaking with confidence, improvisation and creative problem solving.

Collaborate with us to create a play in as little as one day or over the course of a week. Whether for a corporate team-building event or community project, we tailor the experience to suit your needs. A fun and fast-paced project in which participants will create a piece of theatre focusing on themes developed by the group.

Each morning, participants will learn the skills required to create the piece of theatre, which are transferable skills such as speaking with confidence, improvisation and creative problem solving. Afternoons will be spent applying these skills to the devising process of a short piece of theatre (15-30 minutes long) that can be shared with family, friends and supporters on the final day of the project.

Partner with Outside Edge to commission a play that explores themes of addiction and recovery, bringing important stories to life through performance. To discuss ideas, email: [email protected]

Our Stories

Shiv

While detoxing in hospital, Shiv attended an OETC Taster Session and was surprised by how much the idea of drama interested him. He started attending OETC drop-in sessions, progressed to intermediate and advanced groups, which led to him working as an actor with the Royal Shakespeare Company and also working in a substance misuse service.

We offer tailored creative workshops for organisations looking to explore new ways of supporting recovery or team-building. Get in touch to discuss how we can design activities that meet your goals
