In crisis, Emma tries to access help for her problems but finds that neither the substance misuse nor mental health services are willing or able to offer her much. Unable to get the help she needs Emma’s problems spiral out of control and lead to negative consequences.
The workshop hopes to reduce stigma and challenge stereotypes as experienced by dual diagnosed clients; highlight issues surrounding substance misuse encountered by dual diagnosed clients; investigate the social/economic/personal problems faced by dual diagnosed clients; examine the problems faced by such clients trying to access services; present a hard hitting drama focused on issues; discover appropriate interventions by professionals to problems presented; provide a “rehearsal” for mental health professionals who may have to face real situations reflected in the presentation; raise morale for professionals working with dual diagnosis.
Commissioned by Havering DAAT and Oxleas NHS Trust.
